Its been a while since I've updated but I'm hoping to have more things to post coming up. Today I let my boyfriend choose a crockpot recipe to try and now I am sharing it with you.
One note on this recipe, you will notice that I did not chop my vegetables very fine. At my current location I have limited space and so chopping in general is difficult. Also, although I love the flavor of green peppers they give me wicked heartburn so I made the pieces long enough that I can pick them out when it's time to eat.
Things you will need:
1/2 lbs. bulk Italian sausage (mild or hot to preference)
2 cups water
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 large green bell pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
First brown your sausage in a skillet until it is no longer pink. Make sure to break up the meat. Once it is no longer pink, drain the fat and place in the crockpot.
Next you will need to chop up your vegetables so you can add them to the crockpot. Once you have added your chopped vegetables you can add the rest of the ingredients to the crockpot.
Lastly, you will cover the crockpot and cook on low for 2 hours. Enjoy!!
