Classroom Management Philosophy
My classroom management philosophy will begin with creating an atmosphere where students, parents and staff can build a community that fosters understanding, respect and communication.
At the beginning of the school year each student will be encouraged to participate in setting standards and rules that they will be expected to abide by. A copy of these will then be sent home so that expectations will be clear to both students and their parents or guardians.
I will work to make sure that there are multiple lines of communication for students and parents to engage in meaningful discussions about their education.
I will be calm, fair and consistent and will address conflict quickly and wisely.
I will make an effort to know my students so that I can use the teacher-student relationship to encourage learning and be aware of what each students needs in order to succeed.
I will integrate positive classroom rituals that encourage students to ask for help when they need it and to help their fellow classmates when it is appropriate.
I will design a safe, friendly, productive and organized environment that fosters learning through multiple mediums.

Student Assessment Philosophy
I will use a combination of formative and summative assessments to evaluate my students' learning so that I can evaluate their understanding of concepts taught and also as a guide to help me improve my teaching methods.
I will inform students of expected outcomes so that they may use this knowledge to assess themselves as we progress. I will establish lines of communication so that students may feel free to seek my help with concepts that may be difficult for them.
I will give my students feedback as often as possible and will not limit feedback to formal assessments.
I will use homework assignments as a guide to assess student learning and to help them master the concepts that are being taught.
I will use classroom assessments based on core standards to prepare my students for standardized testing.
I will maintain student assessment records in an organized and professional way to ensure that my student’s parents are able to access feedback on their child’s academic progress.
